The Balder Project

The Balder Project

One project involves the modification by Discom B.V. of six exhaust systems on board the ‘Balder’ drilling platform. This platform is set up as a crane installation and is used to lay pipelines on the seabed. The project involved the supply of MAK 9M32 type engines, each of which has a capacity of 4320 kW and which are used to position the platform. Global Switch' Power Generation Project

A good example of a Discom project are the exhaust systems the company designed, produced and installed for a leading internet provider in Amsterdam. There, a total of six complete exhaust systems were implemented which are optimally attuned to Wartsila diesel-driven generators. GE Jenbacher

GE Jenbacher Austria is part of General Electric which is quoted on the US stock exchange. The company builds gas engines with outputs of between 0.25 and 4 MW. These gas engines are suitable for both natural gas and various other gas sorts, including biogas and landfill gas. Since 2007, Discom has supplied exhaust gas silencers to GE Jenbacher in Austria for use in its standard combined heat and power installations and generator sets. Read more  ‣
The LCF project

The LCF project

Discom B.V. supplied the exhaust gas silencers, exhaust fume channels and inlet air channels for four Air Defence and Command Frigates (LCF), built by a Dutch shipyard for the Dutch Navy. The putting together of a project team consisting of engineers, planners/constructers and production staff, headed by the production manager and quality controller was an essential element of this project. The new Lahringen container ship was recently finished at Smits Machinefabriek. The propulsion system chosen for this ship is an ABC engine of the 6DZC type. This engine has a capacity of 1800 HP. CGN, established in Lausanne Switzerland, is the owner of the largest fleet of ‘Belle Epoque’ vessels in the world from the point of view of total passenger capacity. Their ships have plied the waters of Lake Geneva in Switzerland for more than 130 years. They are used for, among other things, romantic cruises (on paddle steamers) between France and Switzerland.
